Background:

Glass can be photographing glass objects or photographing through glass … the possibilities are endless.  Use your imagination.

If you’re photographing through glass, you can obtain many interesting effects and original photos.  The glass can be rippled, frosted, or colored; fogged by steam or coated with a soapy lather … be creative.   Objects positioned at various distances behind a sheet of frosted glass combined with strong backlighting, will produce and unusual effect.  Experiment by placing your objects at different distances to obtain the best results.

If you place your light behind another sheet of frosted glass, the glass surface functions as both a semi-transparent material and a rear projection screen, allowing the camera to record double images of the objects.

Remember, a small aperture will keep the glass and subject in focus; with a large aperture, you can focus sharply on either the glass or the subject.  Each produces very different results.

Thinking
Creatively:

Remember that the Club’s definition of Creative encourages you to create images through the use of imaginative skill or originality of thought, and requires the alteration of reality that is apparent to the viewer.  This includes modifications in the camera, darkroom, or the computer; as well as unusual points of view, imaginative use of subject matter or lighting, or any other presentation that begins with a photograph or a collection of photographs.

Use your imagination and have fun and remember, be creative! The possibilities are endless!
