CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

GENERAL

  • This Exhibition will be conducted according to the recommended practices of the Photographic Society of America. It is open to anyone; however, an entry may be rejected when the sponsoring organization or its agent, in its reasonable discretion, believes the entry does not conform to exhibition rules and conditions. Membership in any photographic organization is not required.

  • The original image must be made by the entrant. Entries must originate as photographs (image-captures of objects via light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired digitally. All images must be original and may not incorporate elements produced by anyone else. Images may be altered, electronically or otherwise, by the maker, and artwork or computer graphics created by the entrant may be incorporated if the photographic content predominates in a way that is obvious to the viewer.

  • By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as their own and permits the sponsor to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for display and/or publication in media related to the Exhibition. This may include low resolution posting on a website. Neither PSA nor the exhibition sponsor assumes any responsibility for any misuse of copyright by anyone.

  • By virtue of submitting an entry. the Entrant sccepts that his/her email address wil be used for communicating information about this Exhibition; and may be used for announcements of future PSA-recognized exhibitions sponsored by either the Coachella Valley Desert Camera Club or by the Southern California Council of Camera Clubs (of which CVDCC is a member).

  • Images so similar as to be almost identical must bear the same title. Images previously accepted in any CVDCC International Color (CPID) Division Exhibition, or so similar as to be almost identical, regardless of title, are ineligible. Previously accepted titles in the CVDCC International Color (CPID) Division Exhibition are also ineligible. Titles must be 35 characters or fewer. Images and titles entered into each Section must be different.

  • Digital entries must be entered using the online entry process found at the ENTRY FORMS (click here or use link above). CDs and email attachments are not permitted.

  • Digital images must be in JPEG format and not exceed 1024 pixels along the longest dimension. There are no restricitions on filesize.

  • FEES (U.S. Dollars only). An Entry consists of up to and including four (4) digital images in the same Section submitted by one entrant. The fee per Entry (Section) is $7 that must be paid on or before the Closing Date. Payment must be made using PayPal (including the PayPal credit card facility) or by cash. Checks are not accepted.

  • Any Entry without the appropriate fee will not be judged.


COLORED PROJECTED IMAGE DIVISION - DIGITAL

  • There are two sections: Section A – Color General;  and (as the Theme) Section B – The Natural World.

  • There are no content restrictions on images submitted  into Section A: Color General other than described in  the General description at the left.

  • The definition of The Natural World used in Section B (Theme) is as follows:

    Natural World photography refers to images dominated by subjects that occur naturally without human involvement. They may be taken from all branches of natural history except anthropology and archeology. Limited digital alteration is allowed provided the resultant image looks natural. Inclusion of incidental manmade objects that are not dominant is also allowed. All images are judged pictorially.

  • Judges will consider all images both for their technical and pictorial merit. The image should be properly exposed, be appropriately in focus, and have appropriate depth of field. The image should have strong composition, pleasing quality, and color impact. The content is unrestricted except, as above, in Section B.

  • No titles or names of entrants may be visible to the judges on the image.

  • Images entered in the same Section will be distributed through four rounds of judging.

  • Titles will not be read at the judging.

  • Scores of judges who are close relatives or partners of entrants will not be counted in the entrant's total score for any of the entrant's images. An average of the other two judges' scores will be used. Such images are also not eligible for medals or honorable mentions, although they may be accepted into the exhibition.
